Excutive Director Report
April 29, 2008
Back
Dear USA Water Ski board members, members of the sport discipline boards, principals of the sport and
USA Water Ski staff,
This will be the lengthiest, and by far the most important, of all the executive director reports to date. It is
a compilation of several reports and will give you an idea of the current status of the governance and
business of USA Water Ski. Governance-wise, you have been provided the minutes of the actions of the
USA Water Ski Executive Committee from its meeting on Saturday, April 19.
Within the Executive Committee section are reports from each of the directors at USA Water Ski
headquarters who oversee various functions of the organization. On the 2008 financial side, the profit/loss
financial covering the first three months of 2008 is provided. Additionally, the Waugh and Goodwin,
LLC independent auditor’s report, which reports on the business side of 2007, is attached in its entirety.
The intent of reporting in this style is to provide total transparency of the business and governance of
USA Water Ski. As in all businesses, there are up-sides and areas that are less so up-sides. As a
businessman, I appreciate a totally honest appraisal on an ongoing basis, and I suspect that you do as well.
You will be receiving similar reports regularly to keep you posted on the USA Water Ski financial and
governance activity.
An enormous amount of work went into the preparation of the various documents within this report.
Thanks are extended to Sandy Hardee, USA Water Ski’s office manager, for assembling it; to Jim Grew,
USA Water Ski’s president, for his continuing contributions to the format and content; to the staff
members involved in the preparation of various elements of the report that pertain to their particular areas
of expertise; and to the members of the USA Water Ski Executive Committee for their financial and time
investment in the ongoing governance of this sport.
Steve Locke
