Jay Guarino
Obituary
Jay Guarino was a 3-event skier with a special love for trick skiing. He grew up skiing in NJ and skied in FL while in school before he moved to GA. Jay became very involved in the Atlanta Water Ski Club and has been the president for over 10 years. Most recently Jay was the GA Water Ski Federation's president for the 2008/09 season. Jay was also an assistant judge & scorer in S,T,J as well as a safety coordinator.
Jay recently received the 2009 GWSF award for Love, Service, and Devotion. A very special award by the skiers of Georgia to recognize his strength in the face of adversity and vision to look forward at our sport with unselfish motives.
Jay will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Obituary
James Michael "Jay" Guarino, age 48, passed on to be with our Heavenly Father on July 20, 2009, following a courageous battle with prostate cancer.
Jay is survived by his wife, Elaine, his son Dylan, his mother Mary Jeanne Guarino of Anchorage, AK, brother John Michael Guarino of Neptune, NJ, brother Gary Michael Guarino, Gary's wife Janet Platt, their daughter Hunter Guarino of Anchorage, AK, his father-in-law and wife Jim and Linda Gardner of Denver SC, his mother-in-law Florene Cole of Rockwood, TN, and sister-in-law Sherry Gardner of Marietta, GA. He was preceded in death by his father Nicholas Michael Guarino (Nick).
Receiving of Friends/Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the Acworth City Park "Beach House" located in Cauble Park at 2293 Beach Street, Acworth, Georgia. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 25th, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Woodstock, 11905 Hwy 92, Woodstock, Georgia. All relatives, friends and the general public are welcome to attend both services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to "The Jay M. Guarino Fund" or to the Georgia Waterski Federation (GWSF).
The Jay M. Guarino Fund has been set up to assist Jay's family with uninsured medical expenses. Also the fund will financially assist Dylan (Jay's son) with the expenses associated with his waterski and music training and competitions, so he may carry on his father's legacy.
