Rhodes wins big at NC State Water Ski Championship

Lane Rhodes, age 7, of Fuquay-Varina won the 2009 NC State Water Ski Championship for the Boys 1 division in slalom, tricks, and overall.

After these results, he is now qualified to ski in the regional and national water ski championships and is currently ranked 6th in the nation in trick skiing. Lane began skiing at the age of 2 and started competing when he was 5. He currently trains at Coble Ski School in Lillington where his father, Michael, is a coach and boat driver.   The tournament was held at Clear Lake in Lexington, NC on July 11-12. 

Lane is the son of Michael and Susan Rhodes. His proud grandparents are Linwood and Barbara Rhodes of Garner.
