Should USA Water Ski change its name to USA Water Ski & Wakeboard?
The International Water Ski Federation Congress met in Calgary earlier this month and voted to change their name to the International Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation.
The issue is now being discussed again by many of our leaders as the wave of the future and have suggested that we should rename USA Water Ski to USA Water Ski & Wakeboard. The thought is that this would be more representative of our organization and present better marketing opportunities for our organization to the general public.
USA Water Ski is made up of nine different Sport Disciplines, which is two more than our original organization and all of these Sport Disciplines are variations of water skiing. The nine Sport Disciplines allows everyone of our members the opportunity to enjoy and compete in a discipline of their choice and interest, while enjoying the benefits and lobbying power of the total membership of the organization. Many of our skiers enjoy many different types of water skiing with their families during their outings on the waters of America.
The question is, do we want to fractionalize our water skiing family by identifying ourselves with specific disciplines, or do we continue under the current name that has served us well for many years?
USA Water Ski is taking a poll/vote from the membership. The poll is located on the right side of the main USA-WS website about half way down the opening page.
